When your puppy turns one year old, we recommend transitioning to TLC Whole Life Dog Food. Although TLC Whole Life Puppy Food and TLC Whole Life Dog Food are very similar, we recommend transitioning over a 10-Day period. This gradual transition helps prevent digestive upset.
10-Day Transition Schedule:
Days 1-2:
- 75% current adult formula
- 25% new puppy formula
Days 3-4:
- 50% current adult formula
- 50% new puppy formula
Days 5-7:
- 25% current adult formula
- 75% new puppy formula
Days 8-10:
- 100% new puppy formula
Important Tips:
- Keep the total amount of food consistent – just change the proportions
- Mix the foods well together rather than serving them separately
- Maintain the same feeding schedule during transition
- Watch for any signs of digestive upset (soft stools, decreased appetite)
- If you notice any digestive issues, slow down the transition by staying at the current ratio for an extra day or two
Monitor These Signs During Transition:
- Energy levels
- Stool consistency
- Appetite
- Any signs of stomach upset
If you notice any concerns during the transition:
- Slow down the transition process
- Stay at the current ratio longer
- If problems persist, consult your veterinarian
Remember to continue feeding the TLC Whole Life Puppy Food until about 12 months of age, then you can transition back to the adult formula using a similar schedule.
